Jim Alexander, Copywriter
OK, so cards on the table? That amazing headshot is for stunt fight work in movies and TV (and it was taken by polymath stuntee and horse trainer Michael Collin). But that’s another story…
My writing journey began when I was 14 years old, and I found a small, purple rubber wolf under our table in Pizza Hut. I went home and wrote a story about Wilf, the werewolf who stopped global warming alongside Santa Claus and a drunk dude called Bartholemew. I have been writing ever since.
When adulthood called, I added copywriting, editing, and proofreading to the mix (apparently you cannot make a living simply writing stories about rubber werewolves). In the past 15 years, I’ve run small copy teams, helped create global positioning for big brands, written video scripts, edited movie scripts, and found ways for NPOs to persuade corporate behemoths that ethical production equals profit.
I’ve also shepherded words for speeches in the House of Commons, given advice on manuscripts that turned into award-winning YA novels, and—well, you get the picture. Mo’ words, mo’ opportunities to do the good stuff.
And yes, I still find time to knock out the occasional werewolf story.
